5 stars I received an ARC of this book from the author. It’s the story of Denver and Blair, sworn enemies, sorta. Denver lost his father as a teen due to the actions of Blair’s father. As a result, Denver hates Blair simply for being the daughter of the man who ruined his life. Blair, on the other hand, is immediately infatuated with Denver, but she understands his inability to forgive and forget. It’s a fake fiancé trope story, and sometimes those can be a bit unbelievable, but this is a really good one. The sexual tension between Denver and Blair is intense; the ensuing passion is epic. The way they interact is believable and feel-good. I really enjoyed the story and the telling of it. It’s not a long story, but it is very well written and I recommend it. October 1, 2021

5 stars Keily and Logan are back in the second installment of the Twisted series and I’m so thankful for the ARC because this book was just as good as the first one. What hope is there for love between two damaged souls, no matter how much they connect with one another, especially when one of them absolutely refuses to let go of the past? In this book, we finally find out about Keily’s and Logan’s shared history and it’s terrible. It’s also understandable that she has forgotten about it. I don’t think Logan possibly can forget, and now that she has been reminded, she won’t be able to either. I had really hoped they’d find their happy ending, but they still have to work through a few things. Hopefully, they’ll be able to do that in the next book (of course, they will). I highly recommend this series. I really love it! September 28, 2021 5 stars I received an ARC of this book from the author. She is one of my favorite authors, but I’ve become accustomed to crying when I read one of her novels. Luckily, this one is just a novella, so there wasn’t as much opportunity to cause tears. Erik is the goalie for the Rebels, while Casey is Harper’s assistant. Erik is immediately interested in Casey, but she wants nothing to do with him. He can’t figure out why she seems so antagonistic toward him, and the reveal is a surprise. His reveal is even more surprising if I’m being honest. It’s clear they belong together and the only question is how it’s going to happen. Who says sex can’t lead to intimacy? Sometimes, for those who resist emotional intimacy, sex is a way to sneak past their barriers. Luckily, Erik is an expert at slipping past those barriers. This is a really fun story with wonderful characters who have their own securities and fears that interfere with their ability to be honest about what they want from the relationship. And even though there’s some tension and uncertainty, there’s no unnecessary drama before they resolve their differences and find their happily ever after. September 24, 2021 |
